Celebration of Life Mass for SR Regina (Alice Catherine) Boyle, OSF, age 90, of Alliance, NE, will be 10:30 AM Saturday, May 15, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in O’Neill, NE. Father Bernard Starman will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 5-7 PM Friday, May 14 with a 6 PM Rosary. Sister Regina passed away November 6, 2020 at Marian Residence in Alliance, NE. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s High School. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill, NE.

Alice Catherine Boyle was born December 29, 1929 to Charles and Alice (Barrett) Boyle of O'Neill. She grew up at the farm just East of O'Neill, North of Inman and she attended Country School grades 1-8 at District 174. She graduated from 8th grade May 1942, she graduated from St Mary's Academy 1947. She then taught Country School at O'Neill, District 174 (Boyles & Pribles) teaching many of her own sisters and cousins, Chambers (Rouse & McConnell's), and Emmet (Skopec & Ziska).

She followed the Lord's call on September 8, 1953 to the Sisters of St. Frances of Penance and Christian Charity at Marycrest Convent in Denver, CO. After three years of Novitiate training that introduced her to the ways of Religious Life, she said her first vows on August 15, 1956, professed her final vows August 15, 1959, and took the name of Sr. Mary Regina.

She taught at St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, NE and a year at St. Francis Mission, SD, before returning to Denver in 1961. She continued her education in Theology, Music, and Art (drawing, sculpting, carving) earning a Bachelor Degree at Regis University in Denver, CO. She taught at Marycrest High School and ministered locally until 2014. She taught art to The Marycrest Assisted Living residence. She also visited High Schools giving talks about St. Francis and painted his face coming to life on a piece of brown wrapping paper. She then retired and moved to Marian Residence in Alliance, NE.

Her first visit home was in December 1961. She stayed at St Mary's Convent in O'Neill, and visited the family there.

Sr Regina taught many Religious Education classes in O'Neill, Plainview, and Crawford.

She traveled to Europe for six weeks viewing the many Museums, and Cathedrals available in England, Holland, Germany, and Italy.

Celebrated her 25th Jubilee in O'Neill, NE, in 1981, as well as her 50th Jubilee on July 6, 2006. Her 60th Jubilee was celebrated in 2015 at Marian Residence in Alliance, NE. She was retired and resided at Marian residence in Alliance NE.

She loved watching sports, especially the Denver Broncos, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Denver Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Rockies. Her TV was always tuned in to the sports channel.

She was such a wonderful Servant, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, artist, sculptor, carver, musician, counselor, babysitter, care giver, entertainer, story teller extraordinaire, etc., and wore each hat with such grace! She could mimic everyone she had a story about, and make the sounds of so many musical instruments.

She was so loved and will be missed by so many. She was a friend to everyone and could talk to anyone. When you talked with her, you were the most important person to her at that time!

She was always thankful for her parents, her sisters-in-Christ, the Boyle sisters, her teachers, relatives, and friends. She was appreciative of all the support she received from the teachers who taught her at St Mary's High School, and at St Patrick's for all their support over the years.

Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Boyle; four sisters, Dolores Schneider, Rosalia Crawford, Charline Gaughenbaugh, Cecilia Boyle; several brothers-in-law, Don, Arnold, Joe, George, Lonnie, and Harold (Punk); many cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ellen Klintobe of O’Neill, NE; Bridget Ramold of Irene, SD; Elaine Ramold of Norfolk, NE; Rita (Ken) Grosse of Fremont, NE; Theresa Parks of Norfolk, NE; Helen (Dennis) Cunningham of Norfolk, NE; and Frances (Lyle) Gillogly of Salinas, CA; brother-in-law, Clark (Sandy) Gaughenbaugh; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her Franciscan family.
