Lois Arlene Elsberry was born August 4, 1935 to Myrl and Arlene (Lichty) Elsberry in rural Page, NE. She attended country school at Brunswick, NE after her folks moved there to find work. The family relocated back to Page, she attended country school up through 8th grade. Lois completed her high school education and received her diploma in 1954 from Orchard Public High School at Orchard, NE. Lois attended college, earning a teaching degree. She taught at country schools around her home area and one year at Clearwater. Lois put her heart and soul into teaching, making lasting memories for the children that grew to love her. She also had placed her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age.

On June 4, 1963, Lois married Roy Milton Urwiler at the O’Neill Wesleyan Church in O’Neill, NE. The couple made their home on Roy’s farm north of Laurel, NE. To this union, three children were born: Harlan, Loren, and Kevin. In addition to being a homemaker, Lois was employed at the nursing home in Laurel, NE and then returned to her love of teaching for four years at the Christian school in Laurel. Lois opened her home countless times to neighborhood club ladies, to church families, to close friends and relatives where she would spend hours cleaning, baking, and cooking. Lois will always be remembered for her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. When her children were grown, Lois’s life journey had her living in various places starting at Hartington, NE and eventually back at her parent’s homestead for three years to help with her mother and a dear family friend. From there, Lois moved to and resided in Yankton, SD for eleven and half years. While in Yankton, Lois kept herself active in her church, entertained countless family and neighbor friends. Lois’s front door was always open to her friends and they visited her frequently where fun, food, and fellowship were enjoyed by all. Her last moved came in May of 2017 to the Evergreen Assisted Living in O’Neill, NE and then to the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE in November of 2018 for the convenience of her family.

Lois is survived by her two sons, Harlan (Manilyn) Urwiler of Olathe, Kansas, and Loren (Cheryl) Urwiler of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five siblings, Ronald Elsberry of Wayne, Nebraska, Sharon (Milton) Boysen of Arizona, Norman (Geri) Elsberry of Orchard, Eugene (Trudy) Elsberry of Page, and Janiece (Dennis) Fox of Albion; many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents, Myrl and Arlene Elsberry; her husband, Roy Urwiler in 2004; her son, Kevin Urwiler; her brother, Virgil Elsberry; an infant sister; and numerous other relatives and close friends.

Dear Family of Lois, Deepest condolences to you & all who loved Dear Lois. She was a special friend being that she'd been my Mother's BFF, so we had a special bonding. She was such a loving, sweet, gentle soul! She was always so appreciative of every little thing. Her family & friends were a priority in her everyday life. She always made me smile & I enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor! She lived with a lot of pain, but was never a chronic complainer. So no more pain Dear Lois! I will miss seeing her on my trips back home & our phone calls, but as you would always say, Lois, "Bye For Now!" You will be dearly missed! God Bless You & Rest in Peace! Love, Katie Boom
