Obituary for LaVonne Roberta Buxton (Albright)
Funeral Services for LaVonne (Albright) Buxton, age 91, of McCook, and formerly of the O’Neill area, will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Cornerstone Fellowship Church in McCook with Pastor Bob Putz officiating. Graveside Services will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Page Cemetery in Page, NE. LaVonne passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Community Hospital in McCook. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Local arrangements are entrusted to Biglin’s Mortuary of O’Neill. Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook is in charge of the McCook services.
LaVonne Roberta Albright was born on November 8, 1930 in Ewing, NE to Gaylord and Prudence (Rutherford) Albright. She attended school in Page, NE and graduated with the Page High School class of 1949. LaVonne furthered her education at Wayne State College and Kearney State College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught for a short time prior to being united in marriage to Arnott W. Buxton on January 11, 1953 in Page, NE. LaVonne and Arnott were blessed with seven children: Julieanne, Barbara, William, Cherri, Susan, Jane, and Kevin. The children were raised in McCook, NE.
LaVonne was a woman of faith who took joy in the quiet, simple things in life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family and was blessed with 91 years of memories and lessons that will be carried on by her loving family. LaVonne was involved in various Bible studies and treasured fellowship with the Body of Christ.
LaVonne is survived by her children, Julieanne McShannon of Lincoln, NE, Barbara (Gary) Bradney of Kearney, NE, William (Karen) Buxton of Brighton, CO, Cherri (Rob) Putz of McCook, NE, Susan Marsh of Lincoln, NE, Jane (Bobby) Hundt of Lincoln, NE, and Kevin (Amber) Buxton of Broadhead, WI; sister, Joan Hoffman of Clearwater, NE; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnott; brothers, Melvin and Sterling; sisters, Dorothy and Inez; sisters-in-law, Donna and Becky; and brothers-in-law, Clifford and Omer.
