Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Jeane V. Hynes, age 93 of O’Neill, Nebraska will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill. Burial will follow in the O’Neill Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill with a Parish Rosary at 7 PM. Jeane passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Arbor Care Center in O’Neill. Biglin’s Mortuary of O’Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Jeane was born on July 26, 1927 in Horton, KS to Theodore and Georgia Belle (Hogue) Vickland. She attended Omaha South High School and Boyles College of Business in Omaha. She married John B. Hynes on January 29, 1946 at St. Rose of Lima in Kansas City, KS. To this union 6 children were born: Deborah, John Jr., Mary, Barbara, David, and Angela.

Jeane grew a large garden and strawberry patch, and made delicious pies, jams, and jellies. She also enjoyed ‘hunting’ asparagus every spring. Camping, fishing, bowling, rock hunting, playing cards, and casino visits were hobbies Jeane enjoyed. Jeane was a self-taught seamstress and made prom and wedding dresses. She crocheted hundreds of beautiful doilies, snowflakes, angels, and potholders for family, sewed many colorful quilts, and made agate jewelry. Jeane was also a very devoted mother and many remember how she could cook a delicious meal at a moments notice.

Jeane is survived by her children; Deborah (Jerry) Miller of Norfolk, NE, Barbara (Alvin) Heiss of Page, NE, David Hynes and Deb Ahlers of Gregory, SD, Angela (Mike) Davis of Ainsworth, NE; daughter in law, Clarice Hynes of Crawford, NE; son in law, Gary Suhr of Bayard, NE; brother, Kenneth (Janine) Vickland of Jackson, WY; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John B. Hynes, Sr.; daughter, Mary Tikalsky; son, John B. Hynes, Jr.; son-in-law, Dale Tikalsky, Sr.; one brother and one sister.

Jeane was a loving and caring sister.
She was also a second mother to me, having spent several summers in O'Neill with her and family as a child, leaving me with fond memories.
Our mother was kind, sweet, patient and mature. Dad was hard working, fun loving and spunky.
Jeane was a combination of them both.
I will miss her always..,,,,Love, Kenny
