Funeral Services for Garry Wecker, age 81, of O’Neill, Nebraska will be 11:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Bishop Aaron Romesser will officiate. Burial will be in the O’Neill Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the O'Neill American Legion Simonson Post 93. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Garry passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin’s Mortuary of O’Neill.

Garry LaVane Wecker was born to Milford and Ruth (Schaum) Wecker on February 22, 1939 in Centralia, Missouri. With Milford being in the service, the family moved around a lot before settling in the Holt County area. Garry attended county school north of Inman, Nebraska through Eighth Grade and then worked on the family farm. He served in the Nebraska Army National Guard for three years, from February 1956 to February 1959. Garry also worked for a time for Emmet Thompson

George Timmerman invited Garry to his home for supper one evening, where he met his daughter, Bessie. Garry and Bessie were married on August 10, 1967 in Neligh, NE. The couple made their home in O’Neill where Garry worked for Kraft Foods for over 20 years. He then worked for Alpha Galvanizing and other various jobs around Holt County.

Garry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Garry is survived by is wife of 53 years Bessie Wecker of O’Neill; five children, Maria (Jim) Roeder of O’Neill, Joyce (Darrel) Saxton of Black Foot, Idaho, Sandra (Dale) Zwingman of O’Neill, Luretta (Pablo) Alarcon of O’Neill, and Garry (Danielle) Wecker of Parker, Colorado; 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Skippy.

Garry is preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Ruth Wecker; his son, Delbert Lynn Ferris; his brother, Robert Wecker; James Wecker; Charles Wecker; and Lois Mae Smith.

Sorry to hear of Garry's death. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I did enjoy teaching both Luretta and Garry when teaching in O'Neill and also some of the grandchildren. So sorry for your loss luretta and family. He will be dearly missed by many. Going to miss seeing him and Bessie to come and get there ice cream at mcdonalds. He was such a kind,caring,nice person. Always had a smile on his face when I ran into him and bessie. May God be with u all thru this hard time. My prayers and thoughts are will be with u. Bessie and Maria, I am sorry to hear of Garry's passing. I worked with him at Kraft Cheese during the summers while I was in college. May God be with you and all of your family during this time of sorrow.
