A Funeral Mass for Frank Soukup, age 93, O’Neill will be at 10:30 am Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill with Fr. Bernard Starman officiating. Burial will be in the O’Neill Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post 93. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill with a 7 pm Knights of Columbus Rosary. Frank passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Arbor Care Center in O’Neill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Biglin’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Eugene Soukup was born on February 21, 1928 in O’Neill, Nebraska to Joseph and Frances (Jirak) Soukup. He attended District 8, northwest of O’Neill, through the eighth grade. He then started helping on the family farm and renting some ground of his own. Frank entered the U.S. Army on February 1, 1951 and served in Okinawa. While in the service, he made many lifelong friends. After being discharged on January 11, 1953, Frank returned to the O’Neill area where he continued to farm.

Frank met Arllys Wayman one night at Danceland. The couple was later married on February 12, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill. To this union, five children were born. They made their home on the family farm, northwest of O’Neill. Along with farming, Frank also sold Pioneer Seed for over 36 years.

Frank was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, was a REA Board Member, and was on the St. Anthony’s Hospital Board. Frank enjoyed hunting when he was younger, playing cards, playing checkers, and gardening. He and Arllys enjoyed traveling, making several trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas.

Frank is survived by his three sons, Gene Soukup and wife, Cindy, of O’Neill, Gary Soukup and wife, Deana, of O’Neill, Steve Soukup and wife, Connie, of O’Neill; two daughters; Barb Hascall and husband, Randy, of Tea, SD, Kathy Diez and husband, Duane, of Dakota Dunes, SD; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Arllys in 2018; one grandson, Dustin Hascall; and one granddaughter, Jenny Hascall.
