A Funeral Mass for Brenda Schmidt, age 74 of O’Neill, Nebraska will be 10:30 AM Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill.  Burial in the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Ewing, NE will be at 2 PM. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM with a 7 PM Parish Rosary at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill.  Brenda passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill.

Brenda Ilene Mudloff was born in Orchard, NE on March 21, 1948 to Anthony and Irene (Park) Mudloff. She enjoyed growing up on the farm with her older sister, Leona. She attended school in Page, Nebraska where she made lifelong friends. Brenda met her husband, Owen “Smitty” Schmidt in school. From then on, they created a beautiful life together. They were married on November 16, 1968 and had three children: Raymond (Tony), Todd, and Tracy. Brenda went to the Grand Island School of Beauty to become a beautician. In the 53 years of doing hair, so many clients became family.

Brenda also enjoyed keeping up with all of her family and friends’ special moments, no matter what their relationship looked like. She absolutely loved Facebook so she could see what everyone was up to and how they were doing. She especially loved sharing all of their posts so that she could go back and look at them whenever she wanted. She always made sure to let her family know that she was proud of them and loved them deeply, and love deeply she did. Brenda had an ornery side too. She loved telling jokes and playing pranks on her family and friends. Countless times, in many public settings, that "machine" or rubber chicken made an appearance. There is no doubt that her funny, loving spirit will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Raymond (Tony) Schmidt, Tracy (Brandon) Baker, and Todd (Kristine) Schmidt; five grandchildren, Jordan (Luke) Lyons, Sabrina (Cory) Donley, Blake Krysl and special friend Emily Eacker, Taylor Schmidt and Jessica Schmidt; three great grandchildren, Dominic Krysl, Huxton Donley and Olivia Lyons; one sister, Leona Prokop; sister-in-law, Sharon Babl; and many other relatives and friends. 

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Irene Mudloff; husband, Owen “Smitty” Schmidt; mother and father-in-law, Raymond (Alice) Schmidt; brother and sister-in-law, Tom (Cheryl) Schmidt; brother-in-law, Elwin Babl and an infant brother.
